ITV show to promote life in the force

ITV1 has comissioned a six-part documentary series, Beat: Life on the Street, following the work and personal lives of police community support officers in Oxfordshire and Liverpool.

The programme has been funded in part by the Central Office of Information, is supported by the Home Office and ties in with its current campaign - "Police - Could You?".

Executive producer Joe Houlihan said: "As we get to know the officers, so too we will get to know the neighbourhoods in which they work. We'll see how the PCSOs are able to help people with the things that concern them most on a day-to-day basis - low-level crime and antisocial behaviour like graffiti, vandalism, yobbishness and car crime."

Beat: Life on the Street is being produced by TwoFour, and was commissioned by Liam Keelan, controller of ITV daytime. The series is scheduled to go out later this year.
