Episode five managed 5.37m (22.4%) in the 9pm timeslot, dominating ITV1's The Mighty Mississippi which got 2.44m (10.2%) and 257k (1.6%) on timeshift.
Another celebrity special of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? took 2.11m (9.2%) earlier (+1: 152k/0.6%).
BBC Two showed Hairy Bikers' Bake-ation (2.77m/12.1%), Meet the Romans with Mary Beard (1.6m/6.7%) and Later Live... with Jools Holland (740k/3.8%).
Channel 4's Supersize v Superskinny drew 1.58m (6.9%) from 8pm (+1: 333k/1.4%), Hidden Talent had 990k (4.1%) from 9pm (+1: 197k/1.2%) and Facejacker was seen by 666k (3.5%).
CSI and CSI: NY entertained 1.59m (6.6%) and 1.2m (7%) respectively, with the former also garnering 152k (0.9%) on +1. Rory McGrath's Pub Dig had appealed to 586k (2.6%) earlier.
Overall, BBC One finished with 23.3% ahead of ITV1's 11.8%. BBC Two came third again with 8% beating both Channel 4 and Channel 5, which both averaged 4.4% (Channel 4+1: 1.1%; Channel 5+1: 0.3%).
On the multichannels, The Vampire Diaries appealed to 357k (1.5%) on ITV2 and Touch received 320k (+1.4%) on Sky1.
Mad Men averaged 73k (0.3%) on Sky Atlantic with Friday Night Lights attracting 14.8k (0.1%).
