Simon Cowell has promised that Hollywood fame and fortune beckons for Pudsey and his owner Ashleigh with TV work, ads and the movies calling. The Border Collie, Bichon Frise and Chinese Crested cross (quite the mouthful) looks like joining a long line of famous telly dogs and will no doubt endear himself to the nation (the world?) for many years to come.
But who is the greatest TV canine or pooch of all time? Digital Spy picks out its favourite dogs on the box!
Bouncer on Neighbours:
The original and best soap hound. Bouncer wasn't just a bit-part player, he was as integral to Neighbours in the '80s as Mrs Mangel and Kylie Minogue.
Brian from Family Guy:
Without question the coolest dog on our list, the Griffins' family pooch is a boozing, sharp-talking, lady-loving hound. An easy pick for our canine Top 10.
Watch K-9 on Doctor Who:
It may look more like a Robot Wars creation than a family pet, but Doctor Who character K-9 has had bigger adventures than most dogs and was always a loyal assistant to the various TARDIS-riders, so he makes the cut.
Vincent in Lost:
He may not have had many lines, but Walt's Labrador retriever was an adorable addition to the Lost cast. Plus, any dog that can survive a plane crash has to be pretty cool, right?
Eddie in Frasier:
The most adorable member of the legendary comedy show's cast and the dog's teasing of Frasier Crane never got old.
Santa's Little Helper in The Simpsons:
Bart's loyal companion has been integral to many a classic Simpsons episode and his long-standing suffering at the hands of Homer and Bart has provided us with hours and hours of giggles.
Wellard in EastEnders:
Any dog that has to put up with being dragged around Albert Square by Dean Gaffney for years deserves some sympathy. Wellard is without question one of the greatest actors to ever grace 'Enders. He just nudged Ethel's Willy out of the Top 10.
Hong Kong Phooey:
"Hong-Kong-Phooey, number one super guy. Hong Kong Phooey, quicker than the human eye! Hong-Kong-Phooey, he's fan-riffic!" The dog with the best theme tune of the list. And for that alone, he deserves to be in our Top 10.
Probably the smartest dog on our list, this eyeball-rolling, eyebrow-raising pooch has to cope with an idiotic owner and crazy capers. Also, he's very, very cute. More cheese!
The dog with possibly the most famous laugh in TV animation history. An inspiration for Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon's cackle.
Near misses: Lassie, Huckleberry Hound, Shep from Blue Peter, Stella in Modern Family
