The duo said that the victory of ex-convict Nathan Hageman not only "overshadowed" the rest of the Simon Cowell gameshow, but made them realise that it should only air weekly - as it will do for series two.

"We all got that wrong and hold our hands up to that," Dec told The Sun. "When we had a winner on the first night, we all got back to our dressing room and said, 'We shouldn't be doing this again tomorrow, it should be weekly'.
"In hindsight, we shouldn't have done it every night... And we had some unfortunate situations with some of the contestants, which overshadowed the show, probably disproportionately."

Ant added that every precaution had been taken to ensure that series two would not involve a repeat of the controversy surrounding Hageman, whose conviction for assaulting an ex-girlfriend was only found out after his £1m win.
"We know we have a great set of contestants and have all been looked at so we don't have that to worry," he said.
Red or Black returns to ITV1 in August.
