British actress Lena Headey has been cast as Sarah Connor in a new television spin-off from the Terminator films.

Variety reports that The Brothers Grimm star Headey will take the coveted role in a pilot due to be penned by Josh Friedman. Directorial duties will fall to David Nutter, best known for his work on early X-Files episodes. The project will be backed by Warner Bros.

The premise of The Sarah Connor Chronicles revolves around one woman's attempt to safeguard present day Los Angeles from attackers travelling back in time from the future. Connor was originally portrayed by Linda Hamilton in Terminator and T-2: Judgement Day.
