The Manchester United defender explained to Digital Spy that he is "testing the waters" with the show, but added that having the option to pursue TV projects would be "nice".
"I'm really looking forward to this experience, and to be asked is a blessing," Ferdinand said. "I've really enjoyed it, and to be part of it is super cool. This is my first time and I'm just testing the waters.
"Football remains my passion, and it's still the thing I love more than anything else. But in a couple of years - or a bit more - it's always nice to have options."
Ferdinand is joined on Let's Get Gold by fellow panelists Andrew Flintoff, Martine McCutcheon and The Saturdays singer Una Healy.
Away from football, Ferdinand also publishes a free digital lifestyle magazine named #5.
Let's Get Gold, hosted by Vernon Kay, continues tonight (Friday, July 6) at 9pm on ITV1.
