'Family Guy' rockets to 1.2m on BBC Three after 'Shrek' boost

BBC Three was the top-rated digital channel on Sunday night (July 15) thanks to a lineup of mostly animation.

Family Guy upped its game to 1.25m (5.8%) for a new edition at 10pm, inheriting some of the 1.11m (4.6%) from movie Shrek which aired before.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Superstar held 3.08m (11.1%) between 8pm and 9.30pm and 157k (0.6%) on ITV1 +1, then The Nation's Favourite Number 1 Single - hosted by Fearne Cotton - concluded with 3.43m (16.2%) and 247k (1.9%) on timeshift.

Over on BBC One, Wallander's audience declined sharply to 5.19m (22.4%) for its second episode from 9pm, shedding 1.2m week on week, prior to which 6.05m (26.3%) watched Countryfile.

Thelma's Gypsy Girls continued with a decent 2.12m (8.8%) for Channel 4 at 9pm (+1: 365k/1.1%), tying in the hour with BBC Two's World's Most Dangerous Roads (2.12m/8.8%).

Once Upon A Time S01E16: 'Heart of Darkness'
Once Upon a Time rallied to 1.16m (5.3%) for Channel 5 at 8pm (+1: 113k/0.5%) for an episode titled 'Heart of Darkness', after which Big Brother attracted 1.15m (4.8%) and 103k (0.5%) an hour later.

Overall, BBC One led primetime with 22.5%, comfortably ahead of ITV1's 17.4% (+1: 0.9%). Channel 4 earned third place with 5.9% (+1: 0.8%), followed by BBC Two's 5.5% and Channel 5's 4.4% (+1: 0.5%).
