Victoria Wood unsure of comedy return

Victoria Wood has admitted she is unsure whether she will return to television comedy following her straight acting role in ITV1's forthcoming film Housewife, 49.

Speaking at a screening for the wartime drama, Wood said she "doesn't know" if she will return to comedy, praising dramas because "you don't have the constriction of having to get so many laughs on a page".

She added: "There's a difference in depth between what you can write in a sitcom... and what you can say in a two hour film. I needed to tell a different kind of story."

Wood has also recently been filming for a documentary series on the British Empire, visiting places named Victoria around the world.

The Dinnerladies actress does however have one upcoming comedy project - touring the UK with a musical version of Acorn Antiques, a popular sketch from her Victoria Wood - As Seen On TV series.
