E4 controller Danny Cohen is planning to invest more in UK content, he revealed at the launch of the channel's 2007 line-up.
Currently around 75% of the E4 schedule is made up of US shows like Friends, The Sopranos and The OC.
Cohen added he would like E4 to start behaving more like a traditional network rather than a niche channel.
Forthcoming UK shows on E4 include Skins, a drama series from Company Pictures, the makers of Shameless. The nine-parter follows the lives of a group of young friends and stars About a Boy actor Nicholas Hoult.
Skins, airing in February, has been written by a team which includes Never Mind The Buzzcocks host Simon Amstell and Shameless writer, Jack Thorne.
Another new UK production for February is Shed-owned Ricochet's Sex Court, where people put loved ones on trial for "sex crimes" like "excessive use of sex toys" or "lack of foreplay".
Two UK comedies are scheduled for April. Objective Productions is making Dog Face, a character-based comedy sketch show featuring Matt King and Catherine Shepherd of Peep Show. HatTrick is making a series based on prank calls called Fonejacker.
New US acquisition Ugly Betty will been shown on the channel before its debut on Channel 4. Other new US shows announced include Runaway and What About Brian..
