The Batman Shootings (working title) is a one-off current affairs film hosted by Amal Fashanu and will explore the circumstances surrounding the recent shootings in Aurora, Colorado at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises.
Unsafe Sex in the City is a four-part series exploring the outcome of unprotected sex and the consequences of sexually transmitted diseases, while the three-part Stacey Dooley in the USA will follow TV host Dooley as she investigates shocking new youth trends across America.
Comedy panel series Britain Unzipped - retitled simply Unzipped - will also return for a second series with original hosts Greg James and Russell Kane.
Two new comedy series have also been ordered. Impractical Jokers - based on one of BBC Three's online comedy web pilots - is an entertainment format in which four comedians must compete in awkward real-life scenarios that they set for each other, with their actions recorded by hidden cameras.
Comedy Marathon - due to air from 9pm on Friday, August 17 until 5am the next morning - is a live overnight event available via the BBC's red button service, and will feature over 40 different acts from this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The final commission is The Body Beautiful - a season of programmes focused on body image and the relationship that Britain's young adults have with their bodies.
"We're experiencing an historic moment on BBC Three right now - transmitting all hours to co-host the biggest sporting event on earth," said BBC Three Controller Zai Bennett. "With this raft of new commissions, alongside all the fantastic new shows which are launching straight off the back of the Olympics, viewers will see what a rich, diverse, surprising and engaging channel BBC Three is.
"It's no accident that we're currently digital channel of the year and won two Baftas this year and these engaging new shows will build on this success."
