Peter Kay's 'Tour That Didn't Tour' delivers 4.2m to Channel 4

Peter Kay's first stand-up in seven years, The Tour That Didn't Tour, premiered on Channel 4 with 4.2m last night.

Some 3.63m (7.1%) watched a recording of the comedian's 2011 show on Channel 4 between 9pm and 11pm, while 577k (3.8%) caught Kay on +1.


Elsewhere, BBC Two's Paralympics drama The Best of Men took an impressive 3.15m (14.4%) from 9pm until 10.30pm, prior to which The Hairy Dieters grew to 3.11m (14%)

Celebrity Big Brother dipped to 1.62m (8.4%) on Channel 5 in the 10pm hour, down 1.1m on its Thursday launch. Before Big Brother, The Hotel Inspector had 1.46m (6.6%).

Both BBC One and ITV had miserable nights: The BBC 999 Awards arrested just 2.73m (12.6%) between 8pm and 9.30pm, then a repeat of John Bishop's Britain nabbed 1.81m (8.2%).

Meanwhile, Jennifer Saunders's equine documentary Back on the Saddle drew a dismal 1.76m (7.9%) at 9pm (+1: 124k/0.6%) despite a Corrie lead-in.

Overall, ITV1 topped primetime with just 16.7% (+1: 0.6%) over BBC One's 15.7%. BBC Two earned third place with 11.4%, while Channel 4 impressed in fourth place with 10.3% (+1: 0.9%), and Channel 5 slipped back last with 5.7% (+1: 0.2%).

Dominating the multichannel world, Lemon La Vida Loca continued with a decent 583k (2.9%) for ITV2 at 10pm (+1: 104k/1%), and Russell Brand's BBC Three programme - From Addiction To Recovery - educated 504k (2.3%) at 9pm.
