Mark Wright, ITV2 work on new shows: 'Hollywood Nights not a disaster'

ITV2 will continue to work with Mark Wright despite the critical mauling and underwhelming ratings of his constructed reality show Mark Wright's Hollywood Nights.

ITV Digital boss Angela Jain insisted that Hollywood Nights was always supposed to be a single-run series, but claimed that it wasn't the end of the broadcaster's relationship with the TOWIE breakout star.

"It was not an unmitigated disaster," said Jain, when asked about Hollywood Nights.

"I think in that show the first couple of episodes we didn't get the format right. People didn't get what it was trying to be and what it was trying to say.

"People said, 'What am I watching?'"

She added: "On balance, in the end, we love Mark Wright. We'll carry on working with him.

"I don't honestly know why the show didn't the same ratings as TOWIE. It would be fair to say Mark Wright is the biggest star from TOWIE. I don't have the answer why the audience didn't crossover."

Hollywood Nights launched in June with under 600,000 viewers.
