'South Park' philosophy book launched

Despite its good use of toilet humour and celebrity-mocking, the experts who worked on South Park And Philosophy have apparently found layers of complex meaning in the show.
According to the book, edited by Robert Arp, the Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset episode, about Paris Hilton, is about the liberal philosophy of John Stuart Mill. Others, meanwhile, explore the meaning of Socrates's Ancient Greek wisdom.
Mr Arp said the cartoon even had the same ultimate aim as philosophy itself. "Believe it or not, the goal of both South Park and philosophy is to discover truth and make the world a better place," he maintained. "The difference is philosophy usually takes a less shocking approach."
Books have also been published about philosophy in The Simpsons, The Matrix, Star Wars and Star Trek.
