An ITV insider told The Sun that the broadcasting is "talking to David" following the I'm A Celebrity star's comments on This Morning that the project will be starting in the near future.
ITV has been searching for a new chat show host after Paul O'Grady defected to rivals Channel 4 amidst much acrimony. Sharon Osbourne launched her own show earlier this year, but it was met with critical derision and poor viewing figures.
