Seaside reality show 'Blackpool Lights' coming to Channel 5

Channel 5 has announced it is filming a fly-on-the-wall series based at Britain's most famous seaside resort Blackpool.

Blackpool Lights will feature some of the biggest characters from the North West England holiday destination being filmed during their day-to-day lives.



Characters will include North Pier comic Joey Blower, who is aiming to lose weight and find a girlfriend to take home to his mum.

D'Lovely B&B business partners and lovers Steven and Leigh, and 'King of the Slots' Chris Higgitt will also appear.

Other locals involved include bingo boss Alan Haworth, who wants to conquer a fear of flying so he can visit his internet girlfriend, and a grumpy taxi driver called Dean.

Channel 5's head of factual entertainment Steve Gowans said: "Blackpool represents the quintessential British seaside resort, and the characters we feature in the series show that it's still a place where everything and anything can happen - usually with a great big dollop of Northern humour."
