The Little Britain star, speaking after the British Comedy Awards, gave his approval to the Best TV Comedy Winner.
"I just love it," he commented. "And I'm really, really pleased it's starting to get the recognition it deserves." The Channel 4 show beat off competition from Ricky Gervais's Extras and political comedy The Thick of It to take the title.
Lucas, whose own show won Best Stage Comedy, also paid tribute to other prize winners. "I really enjoyed The Catherine Tate Show - I'm glad she won an award," he said of the Best TV Comedy Actress.
Also given a mention by Lucas was Sacha Baron Cohen, who won the Writers Guild of Great Britain Ronnie Barker Award along with his Borat colleagues.
