"I want to do it. Going back to shows like Blind Date, I used to love those special OAP ones. I'm pushing for it, just for one round," he said.

"They weren't born old. They've had lives and they've got interests and hobbies. They're still proper horny. Pop a couple of Viagras in the old Bovril and it'll be brilliant!"

A celebrity Christmas special of Take Me Out is also said to be in the works, starring Keith Lemon and Joe Swash.

McGuinness also discussed his upcoming project for Channel 4 during the interview.

"It's called Paddy's TV Guide. It shows clips from really obscure TV that was that bad you can't believe it was ever on," he explained.

"I've found all these shows and it's me hosting with an audience. It sounds s**te but it's not. I did a pilot in Manchester and everyone really got into it."

Take Me Out returns to ITV1 tomorrow at 7pm. Alan Carr's Chatty Man airs at 10.35pm tonight on Channel 4.
