New ident: "Bounce"
Four versions of the idents are to be broadcast:
- ‘Bounce’ - the ‘2’ bounces around on its yellow background
- 'Fish’ - an underwater ‘2’ attracts a shoal of mackerel
- ‘Logo’ - the ‘2’ grows robotic arms and turns over a portion of the screen to reveal the words ‘BBC TWO’
- ‘Domino’ - a number of ‘2’s, stacked in a line, fall over domino-fashion.

“The new idents, which are a contemporary evolution of the wonderful ‘2’s that have helped define the channel over the past 10 years, introduce a cleaner and more modern look to the channel," said Jane Root, BBC2 controller. "Viewers connect with the ‘2’s because they are clever and funny - and enjoyable.???
The new identity, designed by Lambie-Nairn will replace the current idents, first introduced in February 1991.
Creative Director, Martin Lambie-Nairn said: “The new identity gives the channel a more consistent look, whilst retaining and reinforcing the wit and personality the ‘2’s have already established. We set out to present a new and refreshed image for BBC Two. We wanted to maintain the pleasure the idents are capable of generating."
In addition to the new idents, the channel will also feature a different style to its junctions (the gaps in between programmes). “Instead of a simple list of the forthcoming programmes that evening, the menus will feature ‘now’, ‘next’ and ‘later’ information, guiding viewers through what they might like to watch,??? explained Peta Clifton, Head of Marketing at BBC2. “In a multichannel world, handling programme junctions effectively is vital and we’re keen to improve the service we offer viewers.???
