Five Life commissions Gina Ford doc
Published Thursday, Feb 8 2007, 15:50 GMT | By Joanne Oatts
Five Life has commissioned Shine North to produce a one-hour documentary on controversial child care guru Gina Ford.
Gina Ford: Who Are You To Tell Us? looks at the pros and cons of Gina Ford’s best-seller The Contented Little Baby Book.
With discussion from celebrity fans of "Saint Gina" to those who have a less favourable view, the programme takes a look at Gina’s controversial methods on handling feeding, sleeping and crying.
Nick Thorogood, controller of Five Life and Five US, said: "I am delighted to have this commission on Five Life. For first time parents there is no escaping Gina Ford and her book. Her regime polarises opinion and this documentary reflects the fervent views of those for and against her methods."
The programme includes contributions from childcare experts, fellow baby writers, and real life mums, arguing both sides of the mother of all debates.
Robin Ashbrook, head of Shine North, said: "Gina Ford is 'The Mother' of all contemporary parenting experts and frankly whether you agree with her methods or not Gina's story is a compelling one."
The programme will go out on Five Life on Sunday March 4 at 9pm.
