UKTV Style has commissioned a new format for its Q3 schedule, fronted by interior designers Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan.
Produced by Supernanny production house Ricochet, Colin & Justin’s Home Show will follow the pair around a number of UK retail sites, including Bluewater in Kent and Meadowhall in Sheffield, with shoppers used as an informal audience.
McAllister and Ryan said: “We always relish new challenges and we are particularly excited at joining UKTV Style because it is such a respected and dedicated home interest/lifestyle channel. We hope our new Home Show will bring inspirational and attainable design to everyone.”
The 60-minute show will have an “event” feel, with shoppers getting involved in regular items that include using the retailers to create their own set from scratch, with other regular features 'Shopping Sabotage’ and ‘Mint or Skint’ also planned.
The 10-part series has been commissioned by UKTV’s Jo Clinton-Davis, who has recently been recruited by ITV as controller of popular factual, and UKTV Style’s channel head, Catherine Catton.
Catton said: “Colin and Justin are genuinely passionate about empowering the British public to make the most of their own space, so their involvement was key in getting this ambitious project green-lit. Our aim is to deliver the principles of interior design in an entertaining and engaging way to ensure ‘Homes and Property’ content continues to appeal to our target audience of young women.”
The show begins filming at the end of February and will air in September, as part of the channel’s new prime-time Home strand.
