Report: Sir Terry paid for 'Children in Need'
Published Monday, Mar 5 2007, 09:12 GMT | By Dave West
Sir Terry Wogan is the only star paid for appearing in the Children in Need fundraiser, reports have claimed.
He was paid £9,065, or £1,300 an hour, as presenter of the charity show in 2005, according to The Sun.
However, the BBC said the payment dated back to 1980 when the host first featured in the charity bash. It called the wage “nominal” and said it was paid by the show rather than charities.
Sir Terry also defended himself. He insisted: “I’ve never asked for a fee and I would quite happily do it for nothing.”
