Originally commissioned by ITV, the 15-part factual entertainment series was delivered to the terrestrial broadcaster last summer, but remained unscheduled until Isis bought it back.
UKTV Style’s channel head, Catherine Catton, and UKTV’s acting head of acquisitions, Penny Harris, were then able to acquire it through TVF International.
First Dance follows 15 couples as they learn how to perform a specially choreographed dance routine to a song that has special meaning to them.
UKTV Style’s Catton, said: "We are thrilled to have acquired this highly entertaining series from Isis Media in a first of a kind deal. Weddings are core content for us but what makes this series stand out is that it seamlessly blends an ever-green genre with current mainstream entertainment TV thanks to its ‘first dance’ hook."
Over weeks of secret dance rehearsals, the show looks at how the couples’ met and films their wedding preparations, culminating with the emotionally-charged performance itself.
The series was produced by Claire Campbell, and executive produced by Isis Media’s Ben Robinson.
It will air on UKTV Style in July as part of the channel’s as part of the channel's wedding season.
