Only Connect has broken 1 million viewers for the first time in its four-year history.

After hovering around the 900,000 mark for the last few weeks, the Victoria Coren-hosted BBC Four quiz show - an unlikely ratings hit - climbed to 1.05m (4.2%) in its usual 8.30pm last night (November 12).

Only Connect wasn't too far behind BBC One's Panorama which could only muster 1.75m (7%), while MasterChef: The Professionals (2.67m/10.7%) attracted an even greater number for BBC Two - all while Coronation Street hit a six-month high of 9.3m on ITV.

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! commanded 9.37m (37.4%) in the 9pm hour, dipping a million on Sunday's premiere rating - although the reality show usually falls by a greater amount between first and second night.

Helen Flanagan, I'm a celebrity, Bug Burial
With Helen Flanagan causing much of the drama, I'm a Celebrity also added a further 416,000 on ITV1 +1, while 517k (5.8%) tuned in to spinoff show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! NOW! on ITV2 (+1: 140k).

The 10-year-old reality show obliterated Richard Hammond's Miracles of Nature, which slumped 1.3m week-on-week to just 2.42m (9.7%).

The Dark Charisma of Adolf Hitler, a BBC Two documentary about the rise of the world's most evil dictator, interested 2.1m (8.4%), while 999: What's Your Emergency? mustered 1.47m (5.9%) on Channel 4 (+1: 603k).

The Gadget Show continued with 970k (3.9%) over on Channel 5 in an 8pm slot which also saw University Challenge (3.02m/12.2%) air on BBC Two, and Little England (3.38m/13.7%) on ITV (+1: 216k).

Overall, ITV1 dominated primetime with 28.8% (+1: 0.9%), thrashing BBC One's 15.2%. BBC Two strolled into third place with 8.7% ahead of Channel 4's 4.3% (+1: 1%), and Channel 5's 3.5% (+1: 0.2%).

Elsewhere, John Barrowman's debut in Arrow was watched by 645k (2.1%) on Sky1, while ITV2's Switch (394k/2.3%) outperformed rival Made in Chelsea (361k/2.4%) on E4 for the third consecutive week.
