UKTV Food has commissioned a new series which sees celebrity chef Gary Rhodes travel across the Indian continent.

Airing in August, Rhodes Across India will be shot on location and will premiere on UKTV Food to coincide with the 60th anniversary of India’s Independence.

Ordered by UKTV Food channel head Paul Moreton and UKTV’s acting head of commissioning Diana Howie, the 10-part series will see Rhodes discovering the best of regional Indian cuisine accompanied by three UKTV Food viewers handpicked because of their passion for food and connection to India.

Moreton said: "We commissioned this series to help dispel the myth that authentic Indian cuisine can be complicated to cook at home. We're thrilled Gary is taking three of our viewers with him to India – it offers us another opportunity to involve and connect with our audience further beyond the linear TV viewing experience."

The series will culminate with Rhodes and his three apprentices returning to the UK to cater for a major celebration banquet together.

Produced by Denham Productions, the show will be executive produced by Denham’s head of business development, David Nottage, and head of production, Grace Kitto, alongside UKTV's Howie.
