Wogan denies responsibility for slip-up

Terry Wogan has gone on record to claim that he was not to blame for announcing the wrong winner on Saturday night's finale of Making Your Mind Up.
The presenter announced that solo singer Cyndi had won the contest, before being corrected by his co-presenter Fearne Cotton, who confirmed that Scooch had in fact won.
On his show on BBC Radio Two, Wogan said: "Nobody died, it wasn't the General Election and people got a bit confused.
"I suppose I should make an apology to Cyndi - although I'm not taking the blame for this - because I was the one who said Cyndi had won.
"And if she's listening, my apologies for raising your hopes at the last minute, which was inadvertent and I'm sorry."
However, a spokesperson for the BBC last night confirmed that the mistake had in fact been on the part of Wogan. She said: "Terry was given the right name down his earpiece. There was no technical problem.
"It was a noisy studio so he could have misheard but he was definitely given the right name."
