ITV announces new 'movie awards'
ITV has announced it is to launch the National Movie Awards, where viewers will vote for their favourite films of the year.

The programme from Indigo Television, which also makes the National Television Awards, was commissioned by ITV's controller of music and events, Guy Freeman.

A nationwide poll will take place over the summer with voting forms available in every cinema outlet across the country and in magazines, newspapers and online.

Freeman said: "ITV has had a very long association with some of the cinema's biggest box office hits and it's high time we celebrated that relationship in style."

The award ceremony will take place at London's Royal Festival Hall in September, and be broadcast on ITV.
