RDF Television's family entertainment division has been commissioned to work on a major children's programming 'event' for the BBC, called Escape from Adventure Island.
The programme will follow a group of ten children aged between 11 - 14, split into two teams of five, who will be pitched against each other to take on a series of mental and physical challenges.
Filmed on a remote Island off the coast of Brazil this summer, viewers can watch the action build day by day as the teams move across the island from the beach to the jungle.
The show will be broadcast on BBC One and Two later this year over three weeks on weekdays, with a catch-up show on Saturdays.
The CBBC channel will have its own switchover show, a total of 24 hours of Escape from Adventure Island action, and the series will be accompanied by a major multimedia campaign.
Commissioned by Anne Gilchrist, CBBC's creative director, BBC executive producer Kim Shillinglaw will work with RDF executive producers Nigel Pickard and Caroline El-Marazki, and series producer, Andrew Norgate.
Gilchrist said: "Escape from Adventure Island will be a massive event in the CBBC schedules this autumn - it will give children the opportunity to play big, exciting games in a challenging location. I'm delighted that RDF will be bringing their considerable skills and experience to this ambitious project."
