BBC to bring 'Small Town X' to UK

The BBC is to bring US reality series Murder in Small Town X to the UK, it has emerged.

The programme, which aired on FOX in the US over the Summer, features ten 'investigators' (contestants) trying to uncover a murderer in a fictional town. Each week, more townspeople are murdered, as is one contestant who is furtherst from the truth.

BBC1 controller Lorraine Heggessey is overseeing the British version, and is being produced by Conrad Green, who was responsible for the first two series of Big Brother for C4.

Millions of pounds are to be invested into the UK version, after the US version failed to spark public interest. Green, who will rework the show to make it more "simpler" for viewers, is to advertise for contestants to participate in a non-broadcastable pilot. A decision will then be made on how to make a full series work, according to the Media Guardian.

Green has spent the past several months drawing up detailed proposals about the programme, and is now in the process of recruiting a production crew. If pilots are successful, Small Town X could premiere next Autumn.
