'British Bake Off' defeats 'X Factor' in Digital Spy end of year poll

The Great British Bake Off has been crowned the 'Best Reality Show' of 2012 by Digital Spy readers, beating Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor.

In a poll of over 25,000 readers, Digital Spy fans picked the Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood baking contest as their reality TV highlight.



Collecting 20.1% of the final vote, the BBC Two ratings hit nudged the tenth series of Strictly Come Dancing (19.2%) into second place.

The X Factor, which suffered some of its lowest ratings in its history, slipped to third place with 18.9%. The 2011 series of X Factor was the runaway winner of last year's Digital Spy end of year survey.



In slightly better news for Simon Cowell, Britain's Got Talent got one over BBC rival The Voice UK, by finishing in fourth spot.
