Adrian Edmondson is taking on a new television comedy role for ITV1.
The actor, punk Vyvyan in 80s sitcom The Young Ones, will play a middle-aged divorcee named Vernon in Teenage Kicks.
After being kicked out by his wife he moves in with his young-adult children in their flat - reminiscent of the BBC series which was set in student digs.
Phil McIntyre, executive producer, said: "Ade Edmondson is one of the UK's most loved and talented comedians. This is a long overdue return to Young Ones madness. I am delighted to be working with Adrian and ITV on this five-star comedy mayhem."
Paul Jackson, ITV director of entertainment and comedy, added: "From the moment I arrived in this job I have made it my mission to bring quality sitcom back to ITV, this project absolutely does that and I'm very excited about having Ade back on our screens."
