Attenborough's new six-part series will explore the entire continent, showcasing wildlife and landscapes with breathtaking camerawork and rare shots of animal interaction. The series has been billed as a landmark natural history programme by the broadcaster.
The footage of two giraffes trading vicious blows and 'necking' is taken from this week's launch episode, which focuses on the Kalahari Desert.
Africa starts tonight (January 2) at 9pm on BBC One.
