The stars of 1980s sitcom Fresh Fields, Julia McKenzie and Anton Rodgers, will be reunited in a new ITV1 comedy drama.
You Can Choose Your Friends is a 90-minute one-off written by comedian Richard Herring, who also produces Harry Hill's TV Burp.
Made by Avalon Television, the show is set at family gathering celebrating the 45th wedding anniversary of Margaret and Ken, played by McKenzie and Rodgers. Currently in production, it will air later in the spring.
Fresh Fields attracted an regular audience between 1984 and 1986, and saw the pair star as middle-class couple Hester and William Fields. In 1989 it moved to a French setting and was called French Fields.
Paul Jackson, the ITV director of comedy and entertainment, said: "You Can Choose Your Friends has its roots in a traditional comedy drama set up, but the freshness of Richard's writing and the on-screen talent that such a great script attracts make it edgy, original and distinctive and we're delighted to have it on ITV1."
Herring will also star in the show, which is being directed by Delyth Thomas, produced by Extras' Charlie Hanson, and executive produced by Jon Thoday and Richard Allen-Turner.
