'Apprentice' star Tre hit tree at 70mph
Apprentice star Tre Azam broke his back after being involved in a horrifying car crash eight years ago.

The 27-year-old businessman was on a trip to France when he fell asleep at the wheel while driving at 70mph on a motorway. Tre's car left the road, rolled over and smashed into a tree, while his body was flung out of the car.

Azam was wheelchair-bound for nine months after the incident as he slowly learned how to walk again.

"Tre knows how lucky he is and since that crash he doesn't take anything for granted," his best friend Darrin des Vignes told the Sunday Mirror. "Being involved in the crash gave him confidence. If you can get over an ordeal like that, you feel you can achieve anything. He does come across as arrogant so I can understand why some viewers might not like him."

He added: "Tre does have a short fuse, but he's a nice guy really and a great friend."
