UKTV Gardens has tasked Britain’s 'most enthusiastic gardener,' Chris Collins and two-time Chelsea Flower Show medal winner, Hannah Genders with finding Britain’s best allotment site in a new show.
Digging for Victory will be produced by Reef Television and will air in June as part of the channel's Grow Your Own season.
Commissioned by UKTV Style and UKTV Gardens channel head, Catherine Catton, and UKTV’s acting head of commissioning, Diana Howie, the 10-part series will see Collins and Genders tour nine of Britain’s best allotment sites, as selected by the National Allotment Gardens Trust and the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners, to whittle the finalists down to a shortlist of three.
The winner, who will receive a £2,000 prize, will be revealed in the final episode on June 14, in a show filmed at Britain’s best organic kitchen garden at Audley End in Essex.
UKTV’s Catherine Catton said: "Food quality and its provenance is a hot topic at the moment and what better way to guarantee that you’re eating the best, than by growing it yourself? This commission and the ‘Grow Your Own’ season are all about tapping into and celebrating a genuine passion while empowering our audience to have a go themselves."
