Lucas's husband for 'Blue Peter'

Matt Lucas's husband Kevin McGee is due to become a Blue Peter presenter, according to a report.

McGee has worked behind-the-camera on a string of shows and appeared on Comic Relief: Red Nose Night Live 2005 and The Real Little Britain. And since marrying Lucas last year he has enjoyed increasing publicity.

At the pantomime ball party after their civil partnership ceremony Lucas was a genie and McGee the Prince.

“Kevin has already enjoyed a successful career behind the camera but now he wants to try his luck at a bit of presenting," a BBC source told the Daily Star Sunday. “Kevin was not really on the radar.

“But after he stepped out in his Prince Charming-style panto outfit, at the party following his civil partnership with Matt last December, a lot of people started to notice him. He has a great personality which really comes through in front of the camera. He is a natural – TV dynamite.”

The source continued: “Kevin has been interviewed by the BBC and they are really excited about the prospect of working with him. It is almost a done deal – just a couple of things need to be ironed out.”

The paper says it is unclear whether any current hosts will go.
