Discovery launches 'Prime' strand

Discovery UK today announced the launch of Discovery Prime, a new branded on-air slot showing the best of the channel, which launches this week.
The strand's debut coincides with the premiere of Discovery UK’s highest rated show, Deadliest Catch, which follows the crew of eight crab-fishing boats who have one of the deadliest, most lucrative jobs in the world.
Discovery Prime will give viewers the opportunity to see the best of the channel's peak-time offering. The strand will show at least one premiere episode from a key show every evening, as well as offer catch-up opportunities of the best of new Discovery content. It will air every night from 9pm to midnight on weekdays, and from 8pm on Sundays.
Rupert Morling, vice president of scheduling, Discovery UK, said: "A Discovery viewer’s time is precious. The launch of Discovery Prime will allow them multiple chances to catch up with the best of the best of Discovery- every day of the week. Discovery Prime will create an anchor in the schedule, making every night of the week a night of must-see TV for viewers."
