Earlier in the evening, Whale Adventure with Nigel Marven had 949k (4.19%) viewers at 8pm on Channel 5. CSI pulled in 1.43 million (6.11%) at 9pm, while CSI: New York (4.6k) followed with 763k at 10pm.
On BBC One, The Syndicate returned for a second series and won the 9pm slot with 5.43 million viewers (23.1%). The latest edition of Pointless at 5.15pm earned 3.45 million (22.9%).
BBC Two's evening included The Fixer at 8pm, which had 2.80 million (12.34%) and The Railway: Keeping Britain On Track, which had 2.18 million (9.3%) at 9pm. Sue Perkins's sitcom continued to struggle in the 10pm slot, only pulling in 730k (4.02%).
Midsomer Murders intrigued 3.28 million (14.1%) from 8pm for ITV.
On Channel 4, Bedtime Live attracted 1.32 million (5.8%) at 8pm, 16 Kids And Counting had 1.64 million (7.0%) at 9pm and the latest episode of Shameless had 1.02 million (6.4%) at 10pm.
BBC Three army comedy Bluestone 42 had 506k (2.7%) at 10pm, while the latest episode of Elementary had 447k (1.9%) on Sky Living at 9pm.
ITV2's US import The Vampire Diaries had an audience of 376k (1.6%).
