Winning 'Tycoon' to get all the cash
Published Thursday, May 17 2007, 15:25 BST | By Joanne Oatts
Starting next month, ITV business reality show, Tycoon will see Peter Jones help six entrepreneurs make their business ideas come to life.
But unlike other shows, as well as becoming the series' 'Tycoon,' the live final will see the winner scoop all the profits from the other contestant's companies.
Dragon's Den star Jones is fronting the show, as well investing his own money in the six selected projects.
Jones said: "This series is a personal challenge and risk for me as well as the entrepreneurs. They've got my mobile number, my email and I've told them I'm there for them 24/7."
The contestants include glamour model Lauren Pope, a part-time flight attendant, a Karate champion and a 17-year-old on his first trip away from home. The business ideas, which are at different stages of development, range from a radio controlled helicopter, a portable plastic bag holder, clip-in hair extensions and a free newspaper for teenagers.
Each will be set weekly financial targets by Jones, and will be selling and promoting their products in the Tycoon shop, which opens to the public tomorrow near the show's headquarters at London's Oxo Tower.
As part of the show's website, viewers can play Tycoon Trader a business game which allows you to watch videos of the ideas that didn't make final six, and buy and sell them, with the 'top trader' winning a £1000 Red Letter Day prize.
