'Scott & Bailey' returns to big ratings for ITV on Wednesday night

Scott & Bailey returned with decent ratings for ITV on Wednesday (April 3), overnight data has revealed.

The crime drama's third series premiere topped the night with 5.81 million (24.5%) at 9pm. A further 329,000 (1.9%) tuned in on ITV+1.

Simon Cowell's Food Glorious Food continued to drop in the ratings, taking in 2.28m (10.2%) at 8pm.

BBC One won the primetime ratings battle overall, with MasterChef attracting 4.87m (21.8%) at 8pm, and Jamie Theakston's Motorway Cops winning 3.58m (15.1%) at 9pm.

Coast returned for a new series on BBC Two at 8pm, bringing in 2.57m viewers (11.5%). The documentary Hillsborough: Never Forgotten was watched by 831k (3.5%) at 9pm.

Channel 4's One Born Every Minute rose from last week to 2.01m (8.5%) at 9pm, while The Mimic climbed to 805k at 10pm.

Rolf's Animal Clinic suffered a big drop on Channel 5 to 777k (3.5%) at 8pm, with NCIS scoring 1.24m (5.2%) at 9pm.

Hidden Killers of the Victorian Home won big ratings for BBC Four with 772k (3.3%) tuning in at 9pm.

On ITV2, The Only Way is Essex enjoyed a climb from last week's 790k to 932k (5.1%) at 10pm. Benidorm attracted 639k (2.7%) at 9pm.
