'Broadchurch' rises to 6.3 million viewers for ITV on Monday

Broadchurch climbed in the ratings from last week to help give ITV a win over BBC One, overnight data reveals.

The latest episode of the crime drama attracted 6.29 million viewers (24.5%) at 9pm. A further 310,000 tuned in on ITV+1.

Earlier, James Nesbitt's Ireland won 3.19m (12.9%) at 8pm. The special Margaret Thatcher: The Woman Who Changed Britain brought in 845,000 viewers (7.5%) at 10.45pm.

BBC One's Margaret Thatcher obituary special was seen by 2.48m (9.7%) at 8.30pm. Bang Goes The Theory won 2.84m (12.3%) at 7.30pm.

University Challenge quizzed 2.76m (11.3%) people at 8pm on BBC Two, while Paul Hollywood's Bread was seen by 2.31m (9.1%) at 8.30pm. The documentary Fit To Rule: How Royal Illness Changed Britain attracted 1.76m (6.9%) at 9pm.

Channel 4's Maggie & Me special achieved 688k (2.8%) at 8pm, while Embarrassing Bodies intrigued 1.53m (6.0%) at 9pm.

New Channel 5 documentary series Battle Scarred secured 622k (3.4%) at 9pm.

Made in Chelsea returned for its fifth series with 657k (3.6%) at 10pm, significantly lower than its previous 2012 episodes. However, a further 151k tuned in on E4+1.

ITV2's comedy series Plebs amused a decent 508k (2.5%) at 10pm.

Game of Thrones continued on Sky Atlantic with 474k (1.9%) at 9pm. On Sky1, Arrow attracted 493k (2.0%) at 8pm, while Spartacus: War of the Damned won 390k (2.3%) at 9pm.
