Believe it or not, Lisa Kudrow turns 50 today (July 30), so to celebrate we at Digital Spy thought we'd take a look back at her most famous role, the "wonderfully weird" Friends character Phoebe.

From singing about fetid felines to eyeing up Denise Richards, check out the best bits of Buffay below:

"She's your lobster"
We're not sure how a devout vegetarian like Phoebe became so interested in the workings of arguably the most delicious of all crustaceans, but anyway, her speech comparing Ross and Rachel to a couple of lobsters who have mated for life gave him the determination to fight for their relationship.

Arguably, the iconic prom video where Rachel discovered just how much Ross cared for her might have helped, but we believe Phoebe opened the door with her lobster claws.

"There's something wrong with the left phalange"
The 'lobster' moment wasn't the only time Phoebe helped Ross and Rachel out. If Phoebe hadn't acted quickly and sparked a massive safety scare in the final ever episode, chances are Rachel would have gone to Paris instead of giving their romance another shot (also, how have we never noticed that her fellow passenger is The Dean from Community with hair?!)

Phoebe basically saved the entire series from a horribly depressing ending. Imagine the alternate version of the Ross/Rachel reunion scene - Ross: "Did she get off the plane? Did she get off the plane?" Phoebe, standing in doorway: "No". Horrific.

Phoebe and Mike
After a traumatic upbringing in which her mum killed herself and her sweet sixteen involved her being chased around a tire yard by an escaped mental patient who wanted to 'kill her, or whatever', it was wonderful to see Phoebe get a touch of normality by marrying her sweetheart, Mike (Paul Rudd).

Of course, this being Phoebe, it wasn't an entirely conventional wedding ceremony - the pair tied the knot in a snow-covered street in front of a steel band and a dog groomsman with a rapidly lowering heartbeat. While the cold was spreading to impromptu minister Joey's special place, our hearts were filling with warmth.

Phoebe and the triplets
In season four, Phoebe gave her brother Frank Jnr (Giovanni Ribisi) and his teacher-turned-wife the ultimate birthday present by agreeing to carry their children. Phoebe gallantly allows herself to grow big, eat meat and miss out on a trip to England for Ross's second wedding, the only plus side being she can freak people out by telling them she's having her brother's babies.

The moment when she hands over Frank Jr Jr, Leslie and Chandler - "Little high fives!" - is gorgeously sweet and crushing at the same time. Phoebe Buffay - officially the best aunt in the world, even better than those who have pools.

Bagpipes
Can you believe a contender for one of the funniest moments in Friends was slipped away in the credits? Phoebe screeching along to Ross's botched attempt to play 'Celebrate' on the bagpipes is just so ridiculous - even for Phoebe - that it never fails to raise a belly laugh.

Spotting Rachel's face and realising that Jennifer Aniston ain't acting anymore only adds to the scene's comedy value, while the blooper where the entire cast fall about in hysterics is icing on the cake.

Phoebe vs the fire alarm
This exact scenario happened to a member of Team Digital Spy recently, and much like Phoebe we were pushed to the brink of madness as we desperately tried to retire a shrieking fire alarm.

Lisa deserves props for carrying this throwaway story (this is literally the only thing she does in the 'The One Where They're Up All Night') and keeping it both funny and relatable, tapping into that all-consuming rage that comes over us all when inanimate objects turn into unconquerable monsters.

Ms Pac-Man
When Chandler fills the scoreboard of his new Ms Pac-Man machine up with dirty words, it's up to Phoebe to beat them all before Ross's innocent little son Ben comes to stay.

Once again bested by a machine (see above), Phoebe unleashes hell to a waka waka-infused opera score at precisely the wrong moment - HIJINKS! Frankly, we think Ross is being a bit oversensitive here - Ben's sure to have heard far worse stuff now that he's 18 (you now have permission to freak out).

"If it's a girl Phoebe, if it's a boy Phoebo"
Again proving that Ross and Rachel simply can't function without her, Phoebe gave the pair a helping hand when they were struggling to think of names for their baby.

You know, Kate Middleton and Prince William really could have done with having Phoebe around when they were brainstorming about their royal baby... Prince George is fine, but who wouldn't want a Prince Phoebo (or Prince Veto)?

"Ask her out, she's not your cousin"

"THEY'RE DOING IT / "This is my bra"
The episode where Phoebe finally discovers that Monica and Chandler have been hooking up is one of the most memorable of the entire series, and a DS favourite. Her sheer horror at seeing her friends get naked and the subsequent cover-up when Ross appears is a mere appetiser before the delicious plot to exploit 'Mondler's secret.

A back-and-forth of pranks based on the realisation that 'they don't know we know they know' and so on sees Phoebe locked in a game of seduction chicken with Chandler, which she ultimately wins after presenting him with his greatest fear - a bra - and going in for possibly the most awkward kiss of all time. We always love it when Phoebe's devilish side comes out.

Running
Friends basically exist solely to embarrass you, as Rachel found out when she invited Phoebe for a jog and witnessed her unusual running style. Described on the show as a mix between Kermit the Frog and the Six Million Dollar Man, we'd say it looks more like a flapping chicken with limbs made of springs who is for some reason wearing pants and has just soiled said pants. We do like to paint a picture for you here at DS.

And of course...
We never did find out what 'they' were feeding that smelly cat...
