'Vera' beats 'What Remains' in Sunday ratings drama battle

Vera helped give ITV a ratings win on Sunday night (August 25), according to overnight figures.

Brenda Blethyn's returning crime drama interested 4.55 million (21.4%) at 8pm (435,000/2.2% on +1). Earlier, the final Tipping Point of the series entertained 2.77m (15.5%) at 7pm (240k/1.2%).

On BBC One, David Threlfall's new drama What Remains was seen by 4.48m (20.6%) at 9pm. Countryfile dipped to 4.33m (24.2%) at 7pm, followed by Antiques Roadshow with 4.17m (20.1%) at 8pm.

BBC Two's Dragons' Den continued with 2.21m (10.6%) at 8pm, while the Hairy Bikers' Restoration Road Trip appealed to 1.38m (6.3%) at 9pm.

On Channel 4, Gok Wan's appearance on Deal or No Deal amused 846k (4.1%) at 8pm (105k/0.5%). Jason Statham's The Mechanic thrilled 1.44m (7.2%) at 9pm (356k/2.5%).

Channel 5's Once Upon a Time continued with 591k (2.9%) at 8pm, while Celebrity Big Brother brought in 1.43m (6.6%) at 9pm (240k/1.5%).

BBC Three topped the multichannels with Family Guy tickling 872k (4.7%) at 10pm and 775k (4.9%) at 10.30pm.

On Sky1, Charlie Brooker's A Touch of Cloth returned with 193k (0.9%) at 9pm, which is over 300k down on last year's premiere.
