'The X Factor' drops to 8.5m on Saturday

The X Factor dropped around 200,000 viewers from last week in the Saturday ratings (September 21), according to overnight data.

The latest audition episode of the ITV talent show was also down around 700k from last Sunday's show to 8.46 million (38.2%) at 8pm, with a further 368k (1.8%) watching on +1.

Earlier, Stepping Out climbed to 3.49m (18.1%) at 6.45pm, while Through the Keyhole held steady at 4.21m (20.5%) at 9pm (271k/1.6% on +1).

On BBC One, I Love My Country entertained 2.91m (16.3%) at 6.45pm, while Miranda Hart's When Miranda Met Bruce interested 4.11m (19.6%) at 7.30pm.

BBC Two's The Making of Merkel with Andrew Marr appealed to 691k (3.1%) at 8pm, while Rebecca Hall thriller The Awakening was seen by 1.02m (5.9%) at 9.30pm.

A quiet night on Channel 4 was headed by Iron Man with 1.36m (7.5%) at 9pm (300k/2.3%), while Channel 5's broadcast of Hang Em High brought in 1.07m (5.9%) at 9pm (111k/0.9%).

On ITV2, The Xtra Factor gathered 562k (2.7%) at 9pm (166k/1.0%).
