Is ITV2's 'Tricked' star Ben Hanlin the new Dynamo?

By
ITV2 are hoping that they've found a magician to rival Watch's breakout star Dynamo with their dashing young trickster Ben Hanlin.

With a mixture of boyband good looks and incredible sleight of hand, he's a world away from the days when TV magic consisted solely of rabbits in hats and dull card tricks.

Hanlin's new series Tricked will feature him pulling off mind-bending stunts with celebrities and members of the public, leaving jaws on the floor.

In a major stunt in Hanlin's first show, the magician will team up with Blue star Simon Webbe to play a magical prank on his boyband co-stars.

Lee Ryan, Duncan James and Antony Costa are fooled into believing that Webbe has walked into a caravan that topples over a sheer clifftop.

Speaking about their shock at the trick stunt, Costa said: "I was just in complete and utter shock and disbelief that within 30 seconds I could be losing not only one of my bandmates but also one of my best friends."

James commented: "I felt sick to my stomach and I felt helpless. I couldn't understand why he wasn't jumping out. That's what I was shouting to him."

Webbe said: "I felt like a traitor but as it was for TV and in the name of fun, it was a good test to see how much they love me!

"Had they all watched the caravan roll off the cliff laughing, I would have been like, 'Bastards, talk to the hand!'

"Watching their reaction I felt really bad. They were so devastated and to see that was not a nice feeling. I kept thinking, 'I'm sure it made great TV!'"

Tricked starts at 9pm on Thursday (October 10) on ITV2.
