'Poirot' final episodes begin with 4.4m on ITV

ITV's final episodes of Poirot launched with 4.40 million on Wednesday, overnight data reveals.

David Suchet's final four episodes as the detective began with a peak of 4.89m at 9pm and an average audience share of 19.7%. An added 373,000 (1.9%) tuned in on +1. The previous episode in June attracted 4.47m.

On BBC One, Watchdog interested 3.87m (17.5%) at 8pm, while the Great British Year was seen by 2.61m (11.6%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's Nigellissima cooked up 1.11m (5.1%) at 7.30pm, followed by the House that 100k Built with 1.81m (8.2%) at 8pm. David Mitchell and Robert Webb's Ambassadors amused 1.21m (5.4%) at 9pm.

On Channel 4, River Cottage to the Core appealed to 983k (4.5%) at 8pm. Grand Designs gathered 2.48m (11.1%) at 9pm (275k/1.7%), while Gogglebox entertained 1.49m (8.5%) at 10pm (352k/4.0%).

Channel 5's Animal Maternity brought in 913k (4.1%) at 8pm. Saving Britain's 70 Stone Man was seen by 1.25m (5.5%) at 9pm (113k/0.7%). Wentworth continued with 795k (4.7%) at 10pm.

On ITV2, the latest TOWIE attracted 661k (3.8%) at 10pm (140k/1.6%), down over 100k from last week.

Sky Atlantic's The Tunnel dropped over 130k from last week's debut to 236k (1.0%) at 9pm. Hello Ladies dipped around 25k to 130k (0.7%) at 10pm.
