Channel 5 to launch catch-up channel +24

Channel 5 has announced plans for a new 24-hour catch-up channel.

Channel 5 +24 will repeat the previous day's primetime programmes, along with a selection of other recent shows and teleshopping.

Celebrity Big Brother has proven a big ratings hit for Channel 5


The previous day's output from 7pm to around midnight-1am will be repeated the following day at the same time.

On Freeview, BT TV, TalkTalk and YouView, 5 +24 will also broadcast teleshopping from 10am to 7pm.

This will also resume following its main primetime output until 6am. However, on Freeview it will close down until 10am.

The new service will launch on Tuesday, February 4.

Virgin is expected to drop its 5*+1 channel in favour of the new +24 service.

Channel 5 +24's new slots will be:

Freeview - 55
Freesat - 132
Sky - 175
Virgin - 152
