The Voice UK continues ratings success for BBC One with 8.44 million

The Voice UK has topped Saturday night ratings once again, pulling in 8.44 million viewers during last night's (February 8) instalment, according to overnight data.

The BBC One singing show attracted 36.5% of the audience share when its fifth episode of the series aired at 7.10pm.

In the same timeslot on ITV, Tom Daley's Splash! continued with 2.61m (11.87%), as Richard Whitehead and TOWIE's Dan Osborne made it through to next week's live final.

Back on BBC One, National Lottery: Who Dares Wins drew an audience of 5.38m (24.5%) at 8.35pm, while the latest episode of Casualty was watched by 5.31m (25.5%) at 9.25pm.

Over on BBC Two, 2.76m (12%) caught the channel's coverage of Sochi 2014 with Winter Olympics: Today at the Games at 7pm.

Torvill & Dean: The Perfect Day attracted 2.13m (9.38%) at 8pm, with Dad's Army pulling in 1.73m (7.91%) at 9pm.

Back on ITV, Paddy McGuinness's dating show Take Me Out entertained 3.24m (14.9%) at 8.40pm, while 2.1m (11.41%) tuned in to The Jonathan Ross Show for interviews with Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O'Dowd, Emily Mortimer and Kevin Bridges.

Channel 4's biggest primetime ratings came from Tony Robinson's Walking Through History. The first episode of the new series informed 1.21m (5.34%) at 8pm. US drama Hostages continued with 680k (3.19%) at 9pm.

Channel 5 aired three back-to-back episodes of NCIS from 6.40pm, with the second instalment pulling in 818k (3.53%) at 7.30pm. A showing of thriller Willed to Kill was watched by 553k (3.86%) at 10.15pm.

On the multichannels, BBC Four's new crime thriller Salamander got off to a good start. 1.03m (4.7%) watched the premiere at 9pm, while 928k (4.6%) stayed for the second episode at 9.45pm.

ITV3 attracted 794k (3.49%) at 8pm with Doc Martin and BBC Three's showing of Will Smith's Enemy of the State attracted 778k (3.91%) at 9pm.
