Saturday Night Takeaway catches up but The Voice still tops ratings

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway pulled in its highest ratings of the current series so far last night (March 8), according to overnight data.

The third episode of the current 11th series attracted 6.65 million viewers and 28.89% of the audience share when it aired at 7pm on ITV. It gained an additional 356k (1.56%) on +1.

The long-running entertainment show was just 50,000 viewers behind the reigning ratings champion The Voice UK, which once again topped Saturday night's live viewing figures.

The BBC One show pulled in 6.7m (29.3%) as contestants faced off for the second bout of battle rounds at 7pm.

Casualty followed at 9.20pm with 5.03m (24%), while 3.49m (25.9%) watched the football highlights on Match of the Day at 10.30pm.

Over on BBC Two, Dad's Army entertained 1.38m (6.01%) at 8.15pm, followed by The Perfect Morecambe & Wise with 1.42m (6.26%) at 8.45pm. War drama 37 Days concluded with 1.27m (6.06%) at 9.15pm.

Back to ITV, Phillip Schofield's The Cube continued with 3.66m (16.19%) at 8.20pm, while the last in the series of The Jonathan Ross Show pulled in 2.58m (12.57%) with guests including Richard Branson, Jennifer Hudson, Davina McCall and Sue Perkins.

Channel 4's coverage of Crufts 2014 brought in 1.12m (4.91%) at 7pm. US drama Hostages followed with 650k (3.02%), while a showing of X-Men: The Last Stand was seen by 630k (4.35%).

Over on Channel 5, 591k (3.01%) tuned in to see Alexander Gustafsson take on Jimi Manuwa in UFC Fight Night Live from 9pm. Earlier in the evening, NCIS attracted 513k (2.27%) and 629k (2.73%) at 7pm and 8pm respectively.

BBC Four's Salamander topped the multichannel ratings once again, with 852k (3.9%) tuning in for the first episode of the evening at 9pm. 785k (4.02%) watched the second instalment at 9.45pm.

On ITV3, Endeavour rose to 799k (4.07%) at 9pm, while Rosemary & Thyme attracted 673k (2.97%) earlier in the evening at 7pm.

BBC Three pulled in 606k (3.06%) at 9.15pm with a showing of Will Ferrell comedy Blades of Glory.
