The Voice in series low but edges Ant & Dec with 5.94m

The Voice UK suffered a series low but still won the night ahead of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, according to overnight data.

The live semi-final, which saw the contestants perform with their coaches, averaged 5.94m (28.3%) from 7pm to 9.10pm on BBC One, dropping below 6m for the first time this series.

ITV's Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway edged The Voice head to head live in the 7pm hour but was second best overall, managing 5.84m (27.4%). An additional 347k tuned in on +1.

Afterwards on ITV, The Cube appealed to 3.65m (18.1%), while 9.25pm's Law & Order UK took 1.24m (7%).

The latest instalment of BBC One's Casualty drew 4.99m (27.4%) from 9.20pm.

On BBC Two, Dad's Army and The Perfect Morecambe and Wise attracted 1.76m (8.2%) and 1.39m (6.5%) respectively, before a repeat of The Plantagenets grabbed 1.02m (5.1%) from 8.30pm.

Channel 4's Hostages was watched by 483k (2.3%) from 8pm. It was followed by an airing of Jason Statham's The Mechanic, which gripped 881k (4.9%).

On Channel 5, Longmire earned 542k (2.5%) before an NCIS repeat at 8.10pm took 502k (2.4%).

Overall, BBC One won primetime with 28.1%, ahead of ITV (17.6%). BBC Two had 6% of the audience share, while Channel 5 (3.3%) beat Channel 4 (3%).

On the multichannels, Doc Martin scored 754k (3.7%) on ITV3 from 8.25pm.
