'The Apprentice': Week 9 Recap

By
This week on The Apprentice, Sir Alan set a trade task. He instructed the teams to interview representatives from five nations, each of whom would pitch three products to them. The teams would then be required to choose a nation to represent, before selling that nation's products to British retailers.

Tre, who had won every task since the second week, and Katie, who had lost five tasks in a row, volunteered to serve as project managers. Tre's team chose to sell goods from Sweden, namely vacuum cleaner heads, organic dolls and air purifiers. Katie's team elected to import products from Canada, namely light therapy lamps, trainer insoles and 'rugs in boxes'.

Tre's team struggled after managing to make just one appointment with a retailer. Much of their time had been spent spent consoling an emotional Jadine, who was missing her daughter. Katie's team failed to make a single appointment, but their on-the-spot selling skills proved impressive.

Tre's team made £1,344.29, but Katie's team raked in a profit of £2,226.59. They were promptly sent off to Selfridges for a £500 shopping spree as a reward.

Tre chose to bring Jadine and Lohit into the boardroom. The normally unflappable 27-year-old was clearly shaken, especially after Sir Alan remarked that he had "messed up big time", but he was granted a reprieve. Instead, Sir Alan decided to fire Jadine. The formal financial adviser, he reasoned, lacked the necessary experience to become his apprentice.
